Standards and Qualities Report 2026 S6 Leader Alex Paton As I enter my final year of my time at Linwood high School, I am reminded of how fortunate I am to have had such a great experience learning and growing here, with the support of the most nurturing staff. Their unwavering care and encouragement have been crucial in any successes I have achieved here, and I don't know where I'd be without it. The relationships I have formed with many members of staff from all areas of the school are so important to me. From senior leadership members to class teachers and janitorial staff, every “good morning” and “how are you?” makes this school an environment where students feel seen and valued. Whilst the ever-present support from staff has been critical in my academic growth, their encouragement and understanding of my outside extracurricular commitments has been massively helpful and is so appreciated. My teachers have emboldened my journey in dance and encouraged me to excel in my sport, accommodating any extensions or extra support I may have needed. They have also given me amazing opportunities to share my passion with younger students, which has been incredibly rewarding and a fabulous experience. I am filled with complete gratitude for their compassion and consistent reassurance. My time at Linwood High School has been essential in my growth as a person, with the perpetual reinforcement of our school values of teamwork, fairness, honesty, perseverance, and most importantly, love. Love is at the centre of Linwood High School, and I feel this is why we at LHS are such a community. We are a unique school who prioritise nurturing and growth over purely academics. When the time comes for me to leave Linwood High, I will be mournful to leave behind the community which I have grown into and become a part of, however I will leave full of appreciation for the persistent empathy of the staff and the values which are now second nature thanks to an exceptional 6 years in the most developmental and encouraging environment created here. S6 Leader Emily Tweedy Every year I continue to study at Linwood High School, I am reminded how unbelievably lucky I am. My time here has helped shape me into the person who I am today, the ongoing support which I have received both inside the classroom & out is something which I will never forget. Each and every staff member in Linwood High, be that teacher, canteen or janitorial staff goes above and beyond in order to make this place a positive destination for young people. Throughout my years here I have been shown continuous encouragement & support which has driven me to grow my confidence & self-esteem. I am particularly grateful to my teachers who went to great lengths to ensure that I felt confident when the time came to sit my higher exams. My teachers not only helped me by explaining difficult subjects but most also took time out of their days to run extra revision sessions & motivate me to try my best. They not only helped me with the academic pressure of exams, but they also offered comfort & advice when I was burnt out from studying or simply needed to talk. I can say that I am extremely proud to attend a school where students & staff uplift one another day in and day out. I feel immense privilege to have been selected to take part in the LHS leadership team, it has been something which I have worked towards since joining the school in first year. I am beyond grateful to have the chance to serve as a positive role model for younger students in the school, who I hope to inspire the way that my teachers & time here has inspired me. It is hard to put into words how largely significant my experience here has been, studying here has not only taught me the importance of hard work, devotion & perseverance but it has also taught me friendship & love. I am excited to move on to the next chapter of my life knowing that growing up at Linwood High School has played a fundamental role in shaping my identity, and for that I am eternally grateful.
