S1 - S3 Modern Languages
Our BGE course covers a range of topics and encourages learners to engage with both familiar topics and to increase their cultural awareness of the countries where the language they are study is spoken.
Over the course of their BGE Language studies, learners develop their Listening, Talking, Reading & Writing skills, bringing more complexity and detail into their own work and being able to understand more unfamiliar resources.
This year in S3 our learners also have one period of Spanish a fortnight, to introduce them to the language in advance of choosing it for further study in Senior Phase.
While we use Pupil Voice regularly to evaluate our courses and make adjustments as necessary, our courses in S1 to S3 cover the following topics:

Useful Websites for Vocabulary Learning
Quizlet is great for creating your own word lists to practice for vocab tests or just to do some independent study. It can be accessed online or through a free app. There are also thousands of sets made by teachers and students from around the world that you can use for free!

Memrise can be accessed online or through an app and has intuitive language learning algorithms so it knows what words you need more practice with. You can find lots of sets made up you can use or search to see what Mrs Price has created for you!

Kahoot! is great for practising all sorts of topic based vocabulary in different languages at different levels. There are apps you can download or it can be accessed online. Your teacher may point you in the direction of specific games to play, or you can just pick a topic and start practising yourself!
