The pupil support team works closely as a group to offer a wide range of support, assistance and services to help engage every learner. The Pupil Support Team is made up of Pastoral Care, Pupil Support Centre Staff, Home Link and is led by a Depute Head Teacher. Every learner is unique and has different learning needs at different times in his/her school career. In recognition of this, the Pupil Support Team works closely on the amount of support on offer via the “Staged Intervention” model set out by Renfrewshire Council. This allocates a level to each learner as a way of identifying the support required. In simple terms, the model works in this way: Level 1 - Learning needs met within the classroom. Some learners discussed at Extended Support Team meetings (EST) to coordinate and evaluate the support on offer. Level 2 - Learning needs met within the classroom but also with support from colleagues at Renfrewshire Council. This may mean coordinated meetings, allocation of pupil support assistant time or other services. Level 3 - Learning needs met with multiagency interventions. For example, a learner may need support from education, health, social work or other agencies relating to children and families. The Renfrewshire Staged Intervention model is implemented in Linwood High School via our pyramid of support:
